This is the reform of a flat with a very traditional distribution with the kitchen and the living room divided, which meant having two very narrow and elongated rooms linked to a terrace facing the street. In addition, the circulation spaces, entrance and distributor, were preceded by a passage door, which meant a very labyrinthine dwelling with little fluidity in the circulations and materially very overloaded with doors.
In this case, the motto ‘less is more’ by the brilliant architect Mies van der Rohe became the design strategy for the project. The living room and kitchen spaces are unified, generating a more oxygenated and luminous space. The location of the kitchen is maintained, which is enclosed by a breakfast bar. The existing two-paned glass in the living room will be replaced by a three-paned three-rail balcony, which will allow a greater opening onto the terrace. The dining area and the sofa area will be exchanged, which will allow a more comfortable use of them. The doors leading to the hall and entrance hall have also been eliminated, allowing for a more fluid and lighter home.
On the other hand, all the carpentry has been changed and a lighter coloured flooring has been used to generate a feeling of greater spaciousness.
